Windsong Mobile Mammography Event Series at Walden Galleria
— State-of-the-art 3D Mobile Mammography service available for women at region’s largest shopping center —
Buffalo, NY: Although early detection of breast cancer is saving lives, many women have little time or barriers that make it difficult to get screened. To make it easier for women, Windsong Radiology has continued its partnership with Walden Galleria for 2020 by providing its Mobile Mammography service to women in the community. This service will be available as a four-part series, starting with the first event screening this winter and continuing with spring, summer and fall events at the shopping center throughout the year. On Monday, January 27th, Windsong’s mobile mammography unit will be located in Walden Galleria’s parking lot between Macy’s and World of Beer from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Women are reminded that a prescription from their doctor is required. If they have not seen a doctor in some time or do not have one, Windsong’s Physician Assistant will be on board the mobile unit providing clinical breast exams and mammogram scripts that same day. The mobile unit can also help women with transportation, wheelchair accessibility, translation services and those who do not have insurance.
“Beginning at age 40, women at average risk for breast cancer should have an annual mammogram. Windsong’s Mobile Mammography Unit makes it possible for women to get screened, as they should, on an annual basis”, says Chelsea Giaraffa, Physician Assistant for Windsong Mobile Mammography.
The ‘mobile mammo’ provides women the same quality that is offered at Windsong’s brick and mortar offices, 3D mammography or digital breast tomosynthesis, a state of the art technology that has proven to detect smaller cancers earlier, when they are easier to treat.
To date, over 4,000 women have completed their breast cancer screening thanks to many partners throughout Western New York who are equally dedicated to removing barriers to access.
