ConnectLife Community Blood Drive This Month at Walden Galleria
— October blood donors entered to win a special technology raffle—
Buffalo, NY: In partnership with Walden Galleria, ConnectLife will be hosting its third community blood drive of the year later this month on Tuesday, October 18th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Walden Galleria. The ConnectLife Bus will be parked just outside of Five Guys near the main mall entrance next to Forever 21. Staff will be on site to administer and coordinate with volunteer blood donors. In addition, all ConnectLife blood donors will be entered to for a chance to win one item from our special technology raffle- including a Chromebook, Apple iPad, Beats by Dr. Dre and a virtual reality headset.
“ConnectLife has a long-standing tradition of teaming up with community partners to make blood donation easy and accessible,” said Melanie Brem, Partner Relations Associate at ConnectLife. “We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate again with Walden Galleria in this fall and continue our tradition of keeping every drop collected here in WNY.”
ConnectLife is Western New York’s only community blood bank which means every drop of blood donated remains local, here in WNY. The organization supplies about 70% of the local blood supply, supporting area hospitals such as ECMC, Oishei Children’s Hospital, Buffalo General Hospital, Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital, Eastern Niagara Hospital and Olean General Hospital.
The community blood bank stresses the importance and need for volunteer blood donors stating that 1 in 7 people entering local hospitals need blood products for situations such as traumas, chronic illnesses, clotting disorders, and mothers delivering newborn babies. There is no substitute for life-saving blood products and the only way to insure there is a steady supply on local hospital shelves is through volunteer donations.
Appointments for the blood drive are available now. Donors can make an appointment by calling ConnectLife at calling 716-529-4270 or online by visiting www.connectlifegiveblood.org. Walk- in donors are welcome too!
ConnectLife helps people help others. As Western New York’s only community blood center and federally designated organ, eye, and tissue procurement agency, ConnectLife saves and enhances lives through the support and compassion of donors who graciously choose to give the gift of life. All of the blood that ConnectLife collects stays local, helping nearly every hospital in Western New York’s eight counties maintain safe inventory levels while saving them millions of dollars in out-of-state sourcing costs. And for every pint of blood donated, we save the lives of three of our neighbors. At its core, ConnectLife was created to serve—making the blood donation process as personal and painless as possible; helping organ, eye, and tissue donor families honor the wishes of their loved ones during an emotional time; working with schools to equip the next generation of donors with the knowledge they need to make lifesaving decisions; and supporting Western New Yorkers’ inherent desire to do good.
