Buffalo, NY: Excitement is building at Western New York’s largest shopping destination as construction has officially started on the region’s first-ever IKEA at Walden Galleria. The highly anticipated 67,000 sq. ft. store is taking over the lower level of the former Sears and Sears Auto Center space, near the Apple Store. Exterior barricade graphics are now installed, announcing that the iconic global home furnishings retailer is on its way for a Spring 2027 opening.
“Seeing the graphics go up makes this feel real now for our shoppers,” said Alex Corbelli, Marketing Director at Walden Galleria. “With construction officially underway, we are one step closer to bringing IKEA’s unique, full-scale experience to Buffalo and the surrounding Western New York region.”
Construction work will continue in phases throughout the next several months. Additional details regarding the specific grand opening date, job fairs, and hiring opportunities will be shared as the store progresses toward its Spring 2027 opening target.
